Well, that was a strange experience. I tried Endangered Species’ hazelnut toffee chocolate, and at first bite, I didn’t taste any hazelnuts or toffee. On repeated samplings, I noticed a subtle flavor, manifesting as a slight sweetness and a faintly crunchier texture. The bar has none of the salty flavor I would have expected from hazelnut toffee, and for the most part, it tastes like an ordinary, nut-free dark chocolate bar. That isn’t in any way a bad thing, but I can’t help feeling that the bar didn’t meet my expectations.
