Chocolate Review: Vosges Black Salt Chocolate with Caramel

Vosges Black Salt Caramel Exotic Chocolate - photograph of wrapper and bar for review

Brand: Vosges

Flavor: Black Salt Caramel Exotic Chocolate

Cacao Content: 70%

Rating: 5/5, Loved it

There’s a story behind this bar. Awhile ago, I swung by Kroger with my Plan X Media partner-in-crime-ministry, Ash Green, to restock my chocolate supply. The standard price for the Vosges caramel bar you see above was $5.49, and while I like caramel well enough, I prefer straight-up dark chocolate, so I normally wouldn’t have given it a second thought. But, as Ash pointed out, the bar was on sale for $2.79, an absolutely crazy markdown. He talked me into grabbing the Vosges bar on sale, and I’m glad he did.

This is the good stuff.

One bite flooded my taste-brain with deep, rich, pitch-black chocolate flavor. The chocolate shell caved in and gave way to the gooey sweetness of caramel, swirling in the black depths, further accented by the dark savory bite of sea salt. I drowned and died and went to chocolate heaven, coming back to earth to tell you of my experiences. And yes, I’m getting a tiny bit hyperbolic here, but I’m not exaggerating when I say this bar is insanely delicious. It was certainly worth the $2.79 I paid for it, and if you like dark chocolate and caramel, it might even be worth $5.49.

And coming from a skinflint like me, that’s saying something.
